Geetha Gopi N
Geetha is a Registered Rehabilitation Practitioner (Rehabilitation Council of India), Psychologist & Special Educator and has been working in the area of intellectual disabilities and learning difficulties for 24 years.
A graduate in mental retardation from National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), Secunderabad, and post graduation in Psychology, Geetha Gopi has worked initially in various capacities and work settings catering to children having intellectual disabilities for 7 years in India.
She has also done a diploma in Child Care and Child Psychology (UK) and acquired a Certificate in Teaching Children with Dyslexia (UK).
Geetha has worked in Kuwait in international schools following an American curriculum for 14 years. She has extensive experience in working with mixed ability classes (inclusive of children with learning issues) and curriculum delivery contingent upon diverse, continuous and cumulative assessments. Intensive work in curriculum, guidance to teachers for effective curriculum delivery, student behavior management and parent counselling have been important aspects of her work.
Presently, Geetha is also a visiting faculty and Coordinator (Intervention Services) at Vigyan Valley Learning Centre, Cochin. She is also associated with SRM Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Wadakkanchery, where she provides her professional expertise in the area of counseling, guidance and remedial education for students besides providing training and guidance to teachers on better educational practices in the classroom. In addition to this, she also gives lectures and workshops for educators and other professionals in the field of learning disabilities and related disability conditions.
